…it will answer a lot of common questions we often get
Proswing Pride Winter Training @ TP is not included in your Proswing team cost. Therefore, it is not required, and may not be logistical for everyone. In the past, the attendance for each team has varied. We have seen entire teams with near perfect attendance, and instances where only 3-4 players consistently showed up. Based on feedback, most parents have attributed their commitment, or lack of, to schedule availability or conflicts.
The Winter training program for your team has been meticulously designed with age/sport appropriate drills, exercises and techniques. Safety is our upmost priority; athletes will never be asked to do something we have not prepared them for.
We are well aware that most of the Pride athletes will be training with us either before or after practice, and may also be participating in other physical stimuli outside of TP training / Proswing practice (I.e., basketball, catching programs, throwing programs, hitting lessons, required school training sessions etc. etc.). We have a good idea of who those athletes are (from the parents who have replied to my initial email, you can still shoot me an email and let me know if you haven’t already), and we have modified programs accordingly. Athletes will always leave the gym feeling better than when they arrived.
To further the point above, each team program will be modified and individualized in terms of volume, intensity, and exercise selection to the best of our ability with consideration of the athlete’s practice schedule, weaknesses, needs, and other outside physical stimuli they may be participating in.
If you ever have any important questions, comments, or concerns, it is best to communicate with one of our Strength Coaches via email or phone. We have several athletes, groups, and teams training throughout the day (especially weekends) and the little time we may have between sessions is spent setting up and preparing the gym for the next session. You can email us at train@tpstrength.com, or call/text our phone (914) 486-7678, we will respond as soon as possible.
If you plan on buying a single session, it helps to sign your athlete up for each session they plan to attend. If you forget to sign your athlete up for a session, don’t panic, the billing info you originally used to make your first purchase will be kept on file and you will be charged the single session rate (ONLY when your athlete trains).
If you buy a package, we will anticipate your athlete coming to that same session in the future unless you communicate a conflict where they might need to switch dates (you do not have to sign up for every class)
In the event of a conflict with your selected training date, your athlete is encouraged to attend the other scheduled training date offered to make-up the class so they can stay up to date with the teams program and desired progressions
All packages must be used before the end date of your team’s scheduled training (on or before 4/5).
To create maximum flexibility and accommodate some training date preferences / known conflicts, there may be some pride players from different aged pride teams (similar in age) training together (it is also good to know your fellow older or younger pride family, as you will see them a lot around the TP and Proswing facilities!)
Due to the high volume of athletes training in our confined space, for safety, liability, and quality purposes, parents are not allowed to stay in the gym during any training session. This is the athletes time to have fun and bond with their new team. We have had a few issues in the past where parents in the gym were a distraction for their athlete and the group and have even interfered with our drills. We understand that training may be new for many of you, so if you have never trained with us before and you’d like to see what we do, you can stand outside the door and peek your head in from time to time for your athletes first & second session. (follow us on instagram @tp_strength - it is more than likely you will see your team/athlete and will definitley give you insight to what we do).
At TP, we currently have four highly qualified Strength & Conditioning Coaches. All of which have earned a Masters and/or Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and are all Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) - the gold standard for certifications in our industry. In addition, all four coaches have worked as collegiate strength & conditioning coaches, and have played collegiate sports. We understand the long term athletic development process for each age group, how to systematically prepare athletes for the upcoming demands of their sport and to play at the next level, how to individualize and modify individual programs to address high-risk areas / weaknesses, and how to effectively communicate / relate to each athlete on a personal level. While there may be some similarities, what we do as Strength & Conditioning professionals should not be confused with that of personal trainers, cross-fitters, sporting coaches or gym teachers.
